Barkley, R&D Permanent Intern
Barkley, a Great Pyrenees, came to live with us so that we could learn patience. Barkley moves at a glacial speed. He does everything very slowly. In spite of the fact that Bridget, the R&D Director, is just about the perfect dog, Barkley usually sucks all of the oxygen out of the room. He often stops traffic. When I am on a walk with Barkley and Bridget, people invariably ask, “What kind of dog is that?” I often answer, “She’s a Beagle.” I get a confused look and am then told, “No the other one.” Barkley is a sweet giant and learning is a little slower with him; although, he is very well trained — and of course, all clicker training.
Barkley was the same size as Bridget when he came to live with us. He doesn’t know how his boss got so small.
